The Great white throne” ,Zion National Park,

Here is my first attempt at photographing
The Great White Throne located in Zion National Park ,Utah.
The Great White Throne is a highlight of Zion National Park, itself a world-class showplace of sandstone. The whole edifice consists of the Navajo Sandstone, one of the world’s largest sandstone bodies. One of the striking things about the Great White Throne is that while its top is white, its base is red. I hope you enjoy this image is much as I do.

World fattest bird by Chelsea Stark photography

One summer I was just hanging out at my dads cabin in Duck Creek Utah. It was such nice weather outside. We decided to open up the doors to the back deck and let the fresh air in.  I decided to sit out on the deck with my camera. And see if I can get some interesting photos of birds eating from the feeders.

To my surprise here comes what I would call the worlds fattest bird walking across the deck and eating the bird food that the other birds are throwing out from the bird feeders.
To get this image I had to lay down on the deck nose to nose with the bird. Very happy with the shot that I got. The portal bird was so fat he couldn’t actually fly so he actually jumped down step-by-step off the stairs to get off the deck. I’m assuming that’s also how he got on the deck.

Hidden fall A beautiful waterfall.

Hidden Falls” I shot this image during one of my trips to New York city. This image is a combination of two shots. One exposed for the water fall and one for the rocks. This image is one of my favorites. Mostly because it took some effort in getting to the waterfall. Because you had to cross a bridge and hike through some very cold water. It also tested my skills with my camera . I was extremely pleased to see what I got after I was finished merging the two shots together. I think it’s one of my best images so far.

The best way I can describe it is this saying I found. “Art is not the medium, and art is not the execution; art is the idea.”While this opinion is debatable, it’s one with which I happen to agree with and one that blind photography supports. Where do I find art? Art is every where and all you have to do is look. With the right amount of inspiration and ideas you can make art out of anything. Where do I find inspiration? Two different versions of the same cactus flower. One color and one black and white

“Pink CACTUS ” A Color version of a Cactus Flower, Saguaro National Park, Arizona.

While I was exploring Saguaro National Park I came across this beautiful cactus flower. I was filled with inspiration.  Of course I had to take several shots before I got the one I liked. After spending the rest of the day photographing the park.  We got back to the campsite and spent a little time reviewing our images.  After seeing this particular image it dawned on me we would also work as a great black-and-white.  But wasn’t able to really work it up until I got home and really be able to work some magic.  Here are the two images I came up with just from one. Believe it or not they look so much different from each other.  I am quite please with the results. I’m not sure which one I like better.  They both speak to me in there own ways.  The color image of the cactus is vibrant and full of color.  The black-and-white is a simple but elegant shot and extremely classic in its own way.

“State ID or Driver’s license. Shouldn’t matter.” BY Chelsea Stark

“State ID or Driver’s license. Shouldn’t matter.” BY Chelsea Stark
A lot of blind friends have been writing stories about their experiences as a blind or visually impaired person. I have got inspired. From reading some of these stories. So I fought I will try my hand at writing some. From things that have happened to me as a visually impaired individual.  So here is my first attempt at this. “State ID or Driver’s license. Shouldn’t matter.”
Many years ago. I went to Dallas Texas to spend some time with my sister and brother. This was also the year I turn 21. So I thought it would be a great experience since I would be able to go to a few bars and have some drinks with my family.

One evening while I was there. We decide to go to a bar and have drinks and some dinner. A waiter came up to me and asked what I would like I told him I would like a steak medium rare, mashed potatoes and I’d like a beer. He promptly listed the beers he had. Since this was my first time ever having a beer. My sister helped me pick one that I might like. After I picked a beer the waiter asked for my ID. I reached down and grabbed my purse and took out my ID for my wallet. And handed it to the waiter.

He said he would be back with it in a minute. So we just sat and chatted. The waiter came back and asked if I had a drivers license. They would not except my Utah state ID. I said WHAT!!
I haven’t had a problem with this before. He said that they think that this is a fake ID. And they wanted to cut it up. Luck Lee my brother-in-law is a police officer. He promptly got up went to the back and spoke to The manager and demanded my ID back. We were not sure why this was such a problem.

So we all decided to leave. We told the manager we were not going to take the food and we were unhappy. We would not be returning to this restaurant. So we decided to go to another restaurant and have dinner. The other restaurant didn’t have a problem with my state ID and I got my steak and beer.

The rest of the trip was great and hopefully I will never have a problem with people wanting to chop up my ID. It would’ve been a real fun experience trying to get on the plane without one. You would think that most places would know what a state ID looks like. Likely I got my ID back so I could fly back home the next week.
Is there something about a drivers license that is more impressive. Or was I just a victim of somebody’s stupidity.

And the newly bloomed flower that reaches out to the sun. Do I enjoy traveling as a visually impaired photographer? All I can say is when you get that amazing photo it’s all worth it. What does beauty mean to me as a visually impaired photographer? I believe beauty is something that moves you and inspires you. I believe beauty is everywhere. Also I believe in the saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I hope this explains a little bit to you what photography means to me.
